Facebook Training Tips to Generate Targeted Leads

Posted by on July 14, 2010 in Internet Business with No Comments

Facebook is a social community. In order to thrive in Facebook, you must socialize and participate in this community. Start applying these simple facebook training tips to generate free targeted leads.

You want to be sure to:

1. Add Value,
2. Be Honest, and
3. Do Not Pitch Your Business

Just remember, if you are too aggressive, Facebook will ban your account.

INVITE FRIENDS YOU ALREADY KNOW

A great way to start building your friends list is to invite people you already know. Even though you don’t think they would be interested in what you have to offer. You never know if maybe one of their friends might be.

Think all the way back to high school. Dig out that old yearbook and see if your classmates are on Facebook. Don’t forget your college buddies, as well.

Also, think about past or present clubs, sports team, church groups, or organizations you belong to.

Reconnecting with people you already know will establish you as a trusted friend in the Facebook community.

JOIN GROUPS WITHIN YOUR TARGET MARKET

Join as many big groups as you want. About 30 should be plenty. You want to join groups that falls within your targeted market.

There are 2 ways you can locate groups to join.

  1. Use search box. In the upper right hand corner of Facebook, is a search box. Since I am a network marketer, I will use MLM as a group type. Type in MLM and a list of groups will appear. Use the filter to show the groups based on size – highest to lowest.

  2. Accept group invitations. On your Facebook Homepage, look at the upper right hand corner under Requests. Any group invitation will appear here. Click on the invitation icon and a list of groups that sent invitations will appear.

You want to join groups with like minded people so be sure to check out the group’s info page and see if it is really a group you wish to join.

This process does not take long to do.

START YOUR OWN GROUP

Having your own group brands you as a leader.

Here are a few points to setting up your own group.

  1. Use your domain name in the title if at all possible. For Example, my domain name is “Prospect Attraction Marketing” and this group’s name is “Top-Notch Prospect Attraction Marketing Methods Generate FREE Leads”.By using your domain name as part of your group name, helps with search engine optimization.

  2. Add a good photo.Use PowerPoint to add text beside your picture. When people sees your group, having text and being different will draw more prospects to you.

  3. Invite your friends to your group.Facebook is very strict so you want to be sure to keep it simple and only invite no more than 50 friends per day. Send a personal message asking them to join.

  4. Start posting to your group wall as if it was your blog.Make sure that you post value. You want to be sought after as a leader.

This process should only take you about 5 minutes. By inviting 50 friends per day, you should get on average about 10 members per day.

INVITE NEW FRIENDS

Now that you have invited friends that you already know, it is time to start inviting and meeting new friends.

There are 2 ways to find people you want to target.

  1. In the search bar, type in MLM, just like you did when you joined groups. A list of groups comes up. Find a group with lots of members and start inviting friends.

  2. In the search bar, type in a guru in your industry. For example, Mike Dillard. You know his friends are network marketers and your targeted market (if network marketers are your target). A lot of the big dogs hang out here.

Invite about 30 to 50 friends per day. You do not need to worry about sending a personal message, however, that is up to you.

You want to build up your friends list so that you have more people to invite into your group.

This process only takes about 10 minutes per day.

BROADCAST EMAILS TO YOUR GROUP

The power is in the list. Now that you have a list of member in your group, you want to give them value.

What should you be broadcasting to your group?

* Invite your members to FREE training calls.
* Direct them to your new YouTube training video.
* Send motivational videos.

Bottom line is to send content with value; do not pitch your business.

Do not broadcast out on a daily bases unless you have something fresh and new to share. Every other day works well.

WALL POSTS ON OTHER GROUPS WALL

Most post are done on the Discussion Board. Start a new discussion in the group. Make sure your post offers value.

Remember, this is social marketing as well, and you do not want to pitch your business opportunity.

However, you can place ads on walls of company groups, such as Herbalife or Amway. They should have high number of friends/fans.

Create curiosity and interest. For example:

Struggling to generate MLM leads?
I was too until I found this…
http://www.yourdomain.com

That’s it! Just enough to get people to click on your link.

Post on about 10 – 15 Group Walls every day.

WALL POST ON FRIENDS WALLS

Here is a time saving technique to post on friend’s walls.

Create a Note and tag your friends. By tagging friends, you are renting their friend’s list. Not only will your friends see your note, so won’t many others.

Your note does not have to necessarily be business related. Let your hair down and share anything that is of interest to you. Remember, the only thing you should be promoting is YOURSELF. Let people get to know the personal side of you.

Connect with your friends and start building a lasting relationship.

POST VIDEO ONTO GROUP WALLS

Some groups will allow you to post video. Do so, for this is prime online real estate. Create your own how-to video and share with the group.

Cannot stress this enough — DO NOT pitch your business opportunity.

CROSS POLLINATE WITH OTHER GROUP OWNERS

Find a group with several members. Contact the Group Owner and ask if he/she would suggest that their group members join your group. You will then ask your group members to join the other group.

That is the basic tips on building your followers on Facebook.

Be creative on ways to connect with people and start building a relationship.

Your next step is to work up a marketing plan. A marketing plan is just a list of task that you follow on a daily basis. It may seem tedious at first, however, once you get the hang of it, you should spend no more than an hour a day in Facebook. Move on and work on other aspects of your business. DO NOT get hung up in Facebook.

7 Tips For Writing Thank You Letters With Class

Copyright Shaun R. Fawcett

When I first started tracking the information preferences of people visiting my Writing Help Central Web site I was surprised to find how many folks were seeking information on how to write thank you letters. In fact, thank you letter information and sample templates are the fifth ranked destinations at that Web site.

In reality, thank you letters are among the most important letters we will ever write. Whether business or personal, an effective thank you letter needs to be written with sincerity, tact and sensitivity.

Following are a few tips that will help you whenever you encounter thank you letter situations in your business or personal life.

1. Make Sure Its Appropriate
One of the main issues with respect to thank you letters is to know when to send one. As a general rule, I would say better to be safe than sorry. However, make sure there is something noteworthy about the situation. A thank you letter for a routine situation doesnt make sense and dilutes their meaning.

2. Write It Promptly
It is always best to send a thank you letter as soon as possible after the event for which you are doing the thanking. It will help with the level of sincerity in your letter if the event is still fresh in your mind. In any case, a delayed thank you letter will seem like an obligatory afterthought to the recipient.

3. Remind The Recipient
In your introductory sentence, make it very clear that it is indeed a thank you letter and that it pertains to a specific event, situation and/or person. This will eliminate any confusion on the part of the recipient as to the purpose of the letter.

4. Make It Short and Direct
Get straight to the point and never exceed one page. Thank you letters should be short, direct, sincere, and to the point. In business situations they will always type-written but personal thank you letters can be hand-written or typed, as appropriate to the situation.

5. Make It Personal
By definition, a thank you letter is a sincere personal gesture from one individual to another. It should be expressed as a heartfelt personal sentiment, even when written in a business situation. At the same time, strive to be balanced in approach and dont be overly effusive.

6. Always Write it To One Person
Always write your thank you letter to an individual, not an organization or group. Even if its a situation where a group is involved, write your letter to the senior person in the group and/or the group spokesperson. Ask that person to please pass on your sincere appreciation to the other people in the group, and name them in your letter if possible. (Contrary to advice given by certain so-called experts online, in my experience, writing a group letter is never appropriate and achieves little or nothing).

7. Check Spelling and Grammar
As when writing all letters make sure you carefully check your spelling and grammar. This is even more important for thank you letters, since they are almost always a sincere statement of appreciation from one person to another. Be sure to double check the spelling of all names used in the letter. Theres no quicker way to blow your credibility and sincerity than to misspell someones name.

The bottom line on thank you letters is make it appropriate and sincere, or there really is no point in sending one.

Sending thank you letters when appropriate is important in both business and personal life. Individuals and companies that do not send thank you letters can be viewed as ungracious and perhaps not worthy of future good deeds or special treatment.

So, whenever its warranted, make sure you send an appropriate and sincere thank you letter. Invariably, thank you letters will be very well received and appreciated by recipients, and the senders reputation is generally enhanced in their eyes.

What Is Good Corporate Governance?

Posted by LeeAnna - on July 11, 2010 in Sustainable Business with No Comments

Good corporate governance refers to methods, laws and policies that direct, control and administers important functions of a corporation. Principal stakeholders and board of directors within the corporation are the ones who manage the principal corporation. Good corporate governance ensures the goals of the management stays within the lines of agreement of the stakeholders. Most people think there is no difference between stakeholders and shareholders in a corporation however, there is a difference and that is why it’s important to manage things correctly. While working toward maximizing shareholders value and fairness, good corporate governance system ensures their rights are protected at all times. Since Enron and WorldCom were such failures for big business, corporate governance has reinforced its protection considerably. Stakeholders and shareholders alike are driven to improve corporate governance, although some of these changes come from federal mandates. What most stakeholders want is concise information with a clear and feasible link to overall business strategy.

Corporate efficiency is shaped by good corporate governance and strengthens employment stability, retirement security, and the endowments of orphanages, hospitals and universities. Good corporate governance structure specifies the distribution of rights and responsibilities among different participants in the corporation, such as, the board, managers, shareholders and other stakeholders, and spells out the rules and procedures for making decisions on corporate affairs. By doing this, it also provides the structure through which the company objectives are set, and the means of attaining those objectives and monitoring performance. Good corporate governance is about promoting corporate fairness, transparency and accountability.

Because there seems to be so many definitions about good corporate governance I picked one definition and tried to explain it to the best I can. Businesses need to be controlled and directed, because most corporations are pretty large, good corporate governance tells which groups of people are to do what. Board managers, stakeholders, and shareholders each have a say in the rules and procedures of the company. This gives structure to the company and ensures each group is watching the other to keep things in line and keeps everybody honest. This also ensures the company will prosper because each group has to maintain certain strength in order for everything to work like a well oiled machine. If one group goes down, the other groups help restore it back to running the way it’s suppose to. If one group fails then eventually all groups fail and then nobody prospers.

Corporate governance is the system by which business corporations are directed and controlled. The corporate governance structure specifies the distribution of rights and responsibilities among different participants in the corporation, such as, the board, managers, shareholders and other stakeholders, and spells out the rules and procedures for making decisions on corporate affairs. By doing this, it also provides the structure through which the company objectives are set, and the means of attaining those objectives and monitoring performance”, OECD April 1999. OECD’s definition is consistent with the one presented by Cadbury [1992, page 15].

Teamwork in a Networking Business

Posted by Clive Green on July 11, 2010 in Sustainable Business with No Comments

In any kind of business, you should remember that you need people and people also need you. To be an effective businessman, you should not use people in order to gain more resources but instead use your resources to gain more people. You should develop a people-oriented attitude in any kind of work. You should treat the people you work with positively because they are part of your group and they can provide an essential contribution to your business. By being a people-oriented person, you will surely succeed in any business that you handle.

In a business environment, especially in network marketing business, you should develop good relationships with other people. In your network marketing business, you need other people in order for your business to be successful. Successful networking is based on the degree of teamwork that is present in the business. Teamwork is based upon the principle of unity. The greater the unity that exists in a certain relationship, a much deeper relationship is created.

Unity in a relationship is not the same as uniformity. Uniformity means that you are doing a certain work in precisely the same way as your group members. In a group or network, uniformity can be very ineffective. If you are all too much alike, you will stop growing, influencing, and being influenced by the people around you. This can trigger the decline of the group. Unity on the other hand is the process of becoming one or being united in spite of the group members differences. In this way they can influence and help each other to attain a specific goal.

Teamwork is vital to the success of a networking business. Teamwork calls for a sense unity from each and every part of a network. From the book entitled Make a Life Not Just a Living, unity simply means; uplift one another, need one another, intimately relate to one another, trust one another, yield to one another. You can notice that it gives emphases to the word another. It simply means that in this job, it requires all the members to work together as a team. These principles should be the basis of success in a network. Remember that in networking, you all belong to one group, having different beliefs and attitudes but aiming for a common goal.

Top 7 Youth Fundraising ideas

Posted by Jennifer Carter on July 9, 2010 in SOCIETY with No Comments

The most important rule in planning a youth fundraiser is to make sure that everybody has fun!

These ideas will work well for a youth group, a church young people’s group, non-profit group or a youth sports (e.g. football, baseball) group.

Here are seven ideas to get your fundraising started:-

Sales -if you type in youth fundraiser on any search engine you’ll find offers to sell cookie dough, pizza cards, scratch cards, candles, sports goods and plenty more. Depending on the age of the children and the type of group, the locality, consider which of these are likely to be well received in your area. Using existing contacts with family, neighbours and friends alone can be quite profitable.

Car wash – this can be a profitable way to raise funds. It will need good planning. A great free guide to organising a successful car wash event is available from www.carwashguys.com , called How to run a successful car wash fundraiser and is written by Lance Winslow.

Fundraising auction – clear out the garage, spring clean the house, ask for donations – and then auction!. Publicise your auction well in advance around the neighbourhood, invite friends and family, have a printed list of auction items and get someone you trust to run the actual auction itself for you.

Sponsored event – such as a walk, sleepover, or 24 hour sports event – your young people will have their own ideas as to what they’d like to do!

Photos – arrange for a photographer to come for a day or evening. Book a time slot for families, children, publicise the event. Arrange a good level of commission on all photographs purchased and ensure plenty of flyers are available to distribute.

Website advertising – does your group have a website? Could you set up a free blog to keep people informed? If so, consider selling advertising space to local suppliers who may be interested – e.g. the local sports shop.

Dance/Disco/Live Music/Barbeque/Casino event – any event that will work for your locality. Obviously, some church youth groups might find a casino night inappropriate. However, most of these are suitable for young people to help to arrange and to attend.

For other ideas to raise money, get your group together and do a little brainstorming. Everyone will have ideas that they can contribute and this will help to get them involve in the fundraising effort.
Remember to follow some simple rules:-

  • Never go out fundraising alone, but always in groups of at least two.
  • Have some printed information about your project and how much you are planning to raise.
  • Involve as many friends and family members as you can – they will want to support what you are involved with.
  • Have fun!

Get Leads From Seminars

Posted by David Riewe - on July 9, 2010 in Sustainable Business with No Comments

Whenever a particular interest group, home-related business associations, or any other group set up seminars, they usually go out of their way in order to get sponsorship and the like. While it may seem unlikely that you will get anything out of sponsoring a seminar, think again! Moreover, you can get the most out of a seminar without even sponsoring the event yourself.

Lets talk of sponsorships in events first. By giving the organizers a required amount of money, you will be given advertising mileage and marketed as the company who made the seminar possible. This makes your real estate venture very attractive not only for potential customers, but even for people who are impressed and may refer you to one of their friends. Sponsorship also gives you the benefit of setting up a booth within the vicinity of the seminar, where guests can approach and find out more about what you offer before and after the seminar, or in-between seminar breaks. With a booth set up, you have a clear avenue for which leads can come up to you and ask questions. In return, you have the opportunity of giving a winning sales pitch to convince them of your real estate ventures merit, or simply ask for their information should they want additional informative materials on your company. Because people are currently experiencing great fatigue from being sent padded and impersonal brochures through postal and electronic mail, youll be surprised at how responsive they would be to an interactive and personal sales talk that you can give through this seminar side.

The key to getting the most out of sponsoring a seminar is identifying which seminars are worth sponsoring. First, you may want to sponsor something that is at least remotely related to real estate. This way, you will have people flocking to an event who are already personally interested in real estate. This will make it much easier to convince leads to provide you their information or become a potential client in the future.

Choose seminars that invite people who are within your financial target market. Its difficult to convince a buyer of a service he or she cannot afford. Also, try to be part of an event that is going to be attended by a large sum of people.

If you are simply attending a seminar, sit alongside people who have slight inclinations towards real estate. This way, it will not be difficult to get their attention. Always bring with you a brochure and your card to give away to the person sitting next to you just in case he or she may be interested in your service.

Treadmills – Walking Your Way To Better Health One Step At A Time

Posted by Maxine Schel - on July 7, 2010 in Natural Health & Wellness with No Comments

Walking is one of the most natural, everyday movements that an individual can make. For years, this simple act has been believed to help improve cardiovascular health, reduce stress and burn calories at the same time. Because not everyone has the convenience or the safety of walking outdoors, treadmills are designed to offer the same benefits without having to leave home.

While there are different variations of each, there are basically two types of treadmills. The first is a manual treadmill, which is powered solely by the individual. This device is not programmable and, therefore, is designed to keep up with the speed of the individual rather than the other way around. An electronic treadmill, on the other hand, can be programmed for the individual to keep up with the pace of the machine. With varying speeds and positions, electric treadmills can be designed to provide a slow or brisk walk at a flat or sloped angle.

A recent study divided individuals into two different groups, one of which participated in 30 minutes of exercising on treadmills while the other group spent 30 minutes resting. Each of the two group’s progress was monitored during the treatment which, at the conclusion, showed that both groups experienced a reduction in negative feelings, stress and tension. The group that spent 30 minutes training on the treadmills, however, also admitted to feeling an improvement in overall well-being. According to this study, walking is not only good for physical health, but proved to be beneficial for reducing stress and improving overall feelings of wellness.

While the study adds credence to the theory that walking is a positive exercise activity overall, it also lends truth to the idea that individuals do not have to walk outside in order to get the benefits of a regular walking routine. Treadmills are designed with indoor fitness in mind, which was the equipment of choice used in the aforementioned study. The use of a treadmill is especially beneficial during harsh winter months at times when walking outdoors may be slippery, in areas that are unsafe to walk or for individuals who simply prefer to exercise at home. Walking is believed to aid in the reduction of stress, the fight against obesity, cardiovascular disease and may be the most convenient exercise in existence.

The information in this article is intended for informational purposes only. It should not be used in place of, or in conjunction with, professional medical advice and/or recommendations. Before beginning any type of exercise regimen, including one that involves the use of treadmills, individuals should consult their physician.

Sisters On A Journey: 10 Best Ways To Ensure The Midwifery Profession Continues To Struggle

Posted by Yvonne Lapp Cryns - on July 7, 2010 in Internet Business with No Comments

Sisters on a Journey: 10 Best Ways to ensure the midwifery profession continues to struggle or How to Self-Destruct While Providing Entertainment for the Medical Community

1) Do not make students feel welcome Being a student midwife is particularly difficult in states that do not embrace out of hospital birth. Ensure that the dinky group of practicing midwives remains miniscule and ineffective by alienating as many new recruits as possible. Whenever students are present at educational meetings, discount whatever comments they may add to the conversation, after all, they are merely midwives-to-be and couldnt possibly know more about a topic than you. And if a student expresses an opinion different than yours shes wrong.

2) Allow clients to not pay you turns your business into an expensive hobby and ensures that future clients are treated in a discriminatory manner if they pay you.

3) Criticize and belittle whenever possible, particularly with a public audience, discuss how another midwife handles renatal care, labors, births, postpartum care wrong meaning she does it differently than you do it. Consumers who are privy to a number of these shred fests, come to believe no midwife knows how to do anything properly. Point Fingers & Wag Tongues Each time some poor midwife ends up with her name plastered in the media, tell the media this would not occur if only there were licensing. Never mind that consumers dont get it because they know bad things happen with licensed professionals and everybody knows someone whose physician or nurse made an error.

4) Create exclusive organizations – Ah, what better way to snip the growth of midwifery in the bud than to slam the doors of membership shut on those who are not your clones. Of course, its ok to revere foreign midwives, particularly those from 3rd world countries because they have preserved customs.

5) Permanently entrench a select few in national and state professional organizations A puppet board is the best way to be sure that no change will occur. Keeping control to only those sharing a narrow view keeps the midwifery race pure and myopic.

6) Adopt ever more invasive technology as the standard of care Midwifery is heavy duty science and must incorporate all the latest devices and lab tests in order to provide the best care for women. Or does it? Are all those tests producing healthier moms, babies? Whose best interests are really considered — yours or moms?

7) Talk out of both sides of your mouth Be a passionate supporter of the rights of competent adult women to make their own childbirth choices but deny those women a lawful opportunity to experience those choices by encouraging licensure that criminalizes those midwives who provide the particular care those uppity pregnant women want.

8) Join a gossipy discussion group talk a lot, do nothing productive This little enterprise is about as productive as those advertised stuff envelopes from home and make a ton of money jobs. Its a great time-waster and generally produces nothing of value. Permits a handful of those with lots of time and hot air to spew their view of the world. If only those who log on would donate a nickel each time, midwifery causes would be well-funded.

9) Do not support a midwife fighting the State At all costs, make the midwife caught in the cross-hairs of the state stand alone, lest her bad luck may rub off on you. Never mind that any midwife could be in her shoes because of faulty logic and greedy aspirations of political States or District Attorneys. Proclaim her a heretic who deserves what she is getting, just because.

Discourage others from providing emotional, financial and physical support by announcing her conduct to be unorthodox, peculiar or without any standards. Engage in gossip speculating on the unknown details and embellishing on those released by the prosecution to the media. Under no circumstances open your wallet for a midwife in need, especially if she needs money to defend her practice from the state. Rationalize that you cant be sure she did everything right, whine about how poor you are, how broke because but then fly to a conference, stay in a hotel, hold hands in a circle of midwives and sing about the sisterhood. Buy stuff.

10) Be a Judas midwife: Agree to be a witness against a midwife Theres no surer way to destroy midwifery than to hold yourself up as the savior of women and proper midwifery because your way is the only way and the best way. Ignore the fact that unexpected bad outcomes occur without any fault. You can be especially effective if you lack any experience dealing with the specific problem. For example, if it is a breech birth or shoulder dystocia under scrutiny and you have no experience as a primary midwife attending a breech or shoulder dystocia, you can criticize away because your record is pristine.

They Were Lined Up Out The Door Waiting To Pay Me…

Posted by on July 7, 2010 in Internet Business with No Comments

Wouldn’t it be great to get to work one day and have that problem! The key to producing this “terrible” business situation on demand may be closer than you think.

Many entrepreneurs start their businesses because they see a problem that they believe that they can fix. For example, Sam Walton founded the hugely successful Walmart franchise because he realized that people would purchase things in larger amounts if they didn’t have to pay as much, and that concept lead to his enormous success.

You may be thinking “Well that’s just great for Sam Walton, but what about me? I’ve probably missed solving all the really profitable problems, and I might not know how to solve them even if I knew what they were.” Well, there is good news! You don’t need to resolve an enormous issue to make a mint you just have to target people whose issues are not yet being addressed.

A group of people that have a certain set of needs are called a niche. For example, there are a lot of people in the world who are interested in real estate investing. It would be hard to address every single one of their needs with one product. If you tried, you would probably end up pleasing no one. However, by focusing on the needs of one specific group of people for example, real estate investors who are interested in short sales or construction contractors who are interested in real estate investing you can answer all the needs of a particular sub-group.

Many people stop right there, thinking “that would be great but I don’t have any special knowledge that will let me find a niche like that.” They are focusing on the wrong thing entirely. The idea is not to teach them yourself the idea is to help them find the things that they need to do the things that have to do with their particular interests!

Smart business people realize that their businesses will be most successful if they rely on their strengths, and that sometimes a strength can be something as simple as knowing what people want, then helping them get it and that kind of simple, straightforward action has the potential to net you the biggest, easiest profits of all. By focusing on a small group of people that have been underserved in the past, you can create a devoted market that will wait for your next move eagerly and literally beg to pay your for your services.

Acupressure: A Natural Approach to Induce Labor and Relieve Pains during Childbirth

Posted by on July 2, 2010 in Natural Health & Wellness with No Comments

In order to start the childbirth, medical labor induction has become a common event. Pharmaceuticals are widely used to induce labor in the Western hospitals but there is an alternative to this risky approach. Acupressure for labor is a natural method that has become very popular among pregnant women and labor care professionals. This is because labor acupressure offers a safe and natural alternative to induce labor, and avoid the medical labor inductions and the use of labor inducing pharmaceuticals.

Acupressure for labor is a natural method that rapidly increasing group of labor care professionals are using and recommending to pregnant mothers, especially those who are threatened by medical labor induction. This is because acupressure for labor provides a safe and natural alternative to induce labor, without the risks of medication.

One of the most common methods used in hospitals, to artificially stimulate the labor to start, is to administer a drug known as Pitocin. It may or may not work within the next two days. When it works, Pitocin usually produces a very strong reaction and many experience strong labor pains. The effects that the pharmaceuticals might have on the unborn baby are not fully understood. There is also a good chance of some side effects that range from nausea and vomiting to more severe conditions, which usually lead to a cesarean section. All in all, pharmaceutical labor induction does not appear to be the best way to get labor and delivery started.

The holistic and natural approach of acupressure in bringing on the process of childbirth has absolutely no effect on the unborn baby as no unnatural substance is being introduced into the body. It’s safe for the mother, as well, because it only helps your body to function better. A possible side effect is a slight chance of minimal soreness at the site of acupressure point stimulation after repeated treatments.

Acupressure encourages the labor to start by helping the cervix to ripen and dilate, and stimulating the contractions. Some acupressure points help to get the baby to engage better, if he hasn’t descended well.

A recent study tested labor acupressure on a group of women who were near or past their due date, and used a control group of women in similar condition. (Complement Ther Med. 2005) The pregnant women in the control group were not given acupressure treament. As the result of acupressure treatment, women in the acupressure group went into labor naturally, significantly more often than the women in the control group not using any acupressure techniques.

The management of labor pain and the prevention of suffering are major concerns of many labor care professionals and expectant mothers. As the risks of pain medications during labor are now known better, the drug-free approaches for controlling labor pains are becoming more common among labor care professionals and pregnant mothers.

Stimulation of specific acupressure points for pain relief has been shown to increase the release of endorphins which are extremely effective natural painkillers that also improve the body’s performance and promote positive feelings. A recent study revealed that treatment of one single pain relieving pressure point remarkably reduced labor pains, according to the ratings that birthing mothers gave during their labor and delivery (J Altern Complement Med. 2004).

Additionally, the study showed that the total labor time (measured from 3 cm dilatation to delivery) was, surprisingly, much shorter in the acupressure group than in the control group not using acupressure for labor.

Mothers who have used acupressure during labor have been incredibly satisfied with the method. They felt that it was very helpful in keeping the control of their own labor and delivery. They found that labor acupressure helped their cervix to dilate, encouraged the contractions, and managed the labor pains, without the fear that the labor would slow down.
