Tips For Efficient Travel Writing

Travel stories should be simple, crisp and to the point with clarity of thought. Witty and vividly written accounts with an authors personal experiences, anecdotes and quotations can be especially interesting. One can experience travel through words only. Practical and accurate information in grammatically correct language makes reading a pleasure. Some tips on writing accounts of travel are given below.
Think like a Reader
Before starting an article, put your self in the readers boots. Ask what he/she wants. Who are the targeted readers of the particular publication, what are their travel aspirations, what information will be useful to them and how they enjoy the written articles. Once you are clear about that, then commence the work.
Travel Writing: The Big Picture
Now you have to get across the main point to the reader. Identify the central theme of your article, whether it is the location, people or activity oriented place. Work your impressions and facts around this big picture. Now structure your article around, sieve non-essentials, include important aspects and build the story sensibly.
Travel Writing: Be Personal
To make the story interesting, convey your personal experiences and point of view. That place must have been visited or written about countless times before. Write of your own personal approach, personal adventure that thrilled you, some new aspect of the place that inspired you, some new useful discovery of the place. This makes for an interesting insight into the writing.
Travel Writing: Be Funny
Travel to unfamiliar locale is often rich in comedy and comical events. Incorporate these funny incidents, mishaps or any such feeling into the article. Dont be afraid to make your readers laugh. Have a light, lively tone in your article.
Travel Writing: Be surprising
Be an open-minded traveler yourself. Try unusual activities, meeting new people, tasting exotic cuisines and getting involved with native activities in a new place. This will give you a different perspective of the place. Surprise your reader with this out of the ordinary, personally experienced information.
Travel Writing: Quote
Let the people express their thoughts, ideas and feelings about the place, work or activity. Quote extensively in their words. Quote real life stories and experiences for that personal touch to your article.
Travel Writing: Be balanced
Have a balanced approach. Blend your personal observations, descriptions and commentary with practical and useful information to the readers to make it a good travel piece. Two-third colorful description to one-third facts is a reasonable guideline to start with.
Travel writing is not only lucrative but lot of fun too. Keep your eyes open for interesting story line. Research well; write a well-constructed, focused, well-crafted and unique article on travel.

How to Transform Past Painful Emotions for Your Success
Would you love to be able to learn from your emotions in a powerful way and create more happiness in your life? Painful unhealed negative emotions can keep us from being successful because they get in the way of moving forward to creating a successful life. These eight steps and the process lets you fully feel and learn from the emotion as quickly as possible. Then you can move on and learn from each experience. However, it is important to commit to the process of healing these emotions and be willing to let them go. You MUST make this decision about wanting to heal yourself. I know that using these steps has helped me so much in my life throughout my painful experiences. It would helpful to write down all of your answers and journal as you work through these exercises. It is important that you remember the following fact: Everything is about the perception and interpretation we give to a feeling, a person, or a situation; and WE have the power to change our interpretation and use an interpretation that will serve us!
1. Accept full responsibility for the emotion. Even if you don’t fully believe it right now–tell yourself, “I Create My Reality, and I am Creating this Emotion Right Now”. Usually, people never get beyond step one because they actually believe that outer circumstances are causing their emotions. It is critical that you take total complete responsibility for creating your feelings.
2. Name the emotion. Giving the emotion a name increases your clarity, awareness, and consciousness. Don’t just say you feel sad, bad, or mad. Expand your emotional knowledge until you can positively identify the feelings of violation, disappointment, anxiety, shame, embarrassment, and many more.
3. LET GO of THE STORY. The story is whatever it is outside yourself that you think caused the emotion. Literally “see” the story being cut off from your emotion and fading away. Let go of the story but keep the emotion that you created and which now has a name.
4. Bless the emotion. Blessing the emotion means not judging it as good or bad. Accept the emotion in a spirit of gratitude and learning. This is necessary in order to do the next step properly. Be thankful that you were allowed the privilege of experiencing this emotion for your inner growth to more transformation.
5. Feel the emotion. With no judging or resistance; simply, feel the emotion. Notice where you feel the emotion physically in your body. Raise your consciousness as you become a “witness”, a kind of observer of your own processes. What you resist persists and allowing the emotion in this way is the very opposite of resistance.
6. Ask for clarity. In a spirit of learning and willingness to grow, ask for insight as to the reason for the emotion. Don’t go back to the story. The “cause” of the emotion is you and nothing outside yourself. Ask, “What do I need to learn from this emotion.” Also ask, “What ineffective belief do I own that created this emotion.”
7. Identify the belief. Create a space for the answer to come and it will come. At the root of nearly every painful emotion is an ineffective belief. For example: You may believe that you must make everyone happy. You may believe you can’t be loved if you are not perfect. You may believe that you are simply not worth it.
8. Replace the belief. Once you have identified the belief choose to replace it with a more effective belief. Literally say to yourself, “I now CHOOSE to reject this (ineffective belief) and adopt this (empowering belief) in its place”.
Summary: You will find that during the last four steps of the process, something magical has happened! The painful emotion is gone and is completely transformed into something else. The reason for this magic is the clarity and increase in consciousness. Normally, people resist their painful emotions with intense energy, which only keeps them festering and in pain for hours, days, weeks, months, and even years! By allowing yourself to feel in a spirit of openness and acceptance you can learn your lessons quickly. A fantastic side benefit is that you now have a powerful new belief in place! You can grow more in a few weeks than you have in the past years by practicing this process diligently.
Shun Cloning : Scientists Must Speak Out
Scientists say evidence is mounting “that creating healthy animals through cloning is More difficult than they had expected.” So began a front-page story in the New York Times (Marching 25), highlighting the frustrations of animal cloners, and the chance that person cloning whitethorn prove technically inconceivable. Those worried about the ethics of individual cloning have greeted this as good news, a sign that the slippery slope is leveling come out of the closet. Unfortunately, the new obstacles English hawthorn prove less than insurmountable in the hanker tally–and in bioengineering, the yearn running often proves surprisingly short. For those whose doubts about ergonomics ar expressed by the philosopher Leon Kass as “the wisdom of repugnance,” it is no meter to relax: The slope Crataegus laevigata soon steepen once Thomas More. In cloning, a cellular cell nucleus from the grownup to be cloned is injected into an testis from which the karyon has been removed.
As it turns , the environment of the unfertilized testicle, hijacked for cloning purposes, is able-bodied to “reprogram” big nuclei, returning their DEOXYRIBONUCLEIC ACID to a naive, pseudo-embryonic state. As the orchis develops, it follows the familial blueprint of the full-grown from which the core was derived, essentially producing an identical twin of that individual. But at that place problems. When Ian Ian Wilmut and his co-workers produced the cloned sheep Doll, they caught about biologists unawares because it was thinking out of the question to clone a mammal. Frogs had been cloned Sir Thomas More than twenty-five years ago, but many biologists cerebration that a phenomenon termed “imprinting” would prevent mammalian cloning. Imprinting confers “memory” on a developing cell, helping to distinguish fully grown skin cells, for instance, from heart, liver, and blood cells.
Experiments in mice suggested that imprinting permanently altered the DESOXYRIBONUCLEIC ACID, making it unimaginable to derive a feasible embryo from an grown core group. changed all that. Still, the cloning of mammals is a precarious enterprise. himself acknowledged that cloning was ineffective and fraught with grotesque loser, and he strongly advised against trying to clone world. Even the just about experienced researchers to generate executable clones only 2 to 5 percent of the metre. The failures appear to stem from the imprinting phenomenon, which had been discounted post-: the hereditary absolution conferred by the ball turns to be at best, and memories persist in the of cloned embryos, interfering with their development.
This point was made by MIT developmental biologist Rudolf Jaenisch during testimony earlier a House subcommittee on Master of Architecture 28, and in a forceful article he co-authored with , “Don’t Clone Humans!” (Science, MArch 28). As Jaenisch and others stressed ahead Congress, the high unsuccessful person rate in animal cloning should make somebody cloning unthinkable. The proponents of cloning, a motley crew of UFO cultists and fringe physicians, argue that they volition succeed in human race where experts have failed in animals. Their position is, of course, untenable.
For now, soul cloning testament probably end up prohibited. However, in that location is a danger in arguing against cloning on technical grounds alone: Once the procedure is perfected, it implicitly becomes ethically permissible.
What to do When Kids Go off Their Meds: Brain-based Learning Strategies for ADD/ADHD
Steven Nissen, a prominent Cleveland Ohio Cardiologist recently prodded the FDAs Advisory committee to put a black box warning on Ritalin, warning of potential heart
danger. Why? From 1999 to 2003, 81 deaths and 54 nonfatal cardiovascular events such as heart attacks have possible links to Ritalin and similar drugs.
During the same period 78 million prescriptions were written for children up to the age of 18. Today two million kids a month take these drugs.
These are startling statistics to put it mildly! Assuming Nissen is correct, Ritalin is a pretty dangerous method of improving brain-based learning.
Now before I go any further with this story, please do not take a child off their ADD medication or suggest to a parent that such should be done. I am not a medical doctor. I
do not prescribe. If you want to look into lowering a dosage or stopping a childs medications, you must talk to a doctor.
What does this story mean in terms of ADD behavior at home and in the classroom? How does it affect brain-based learning? I predict that anxious parents and doctors are
going to take kids off their meds. Now what are we going do with 2 million hyperactive kids!
For years, we havent had to take responsibility for helping these kids or keeping ourselves from going crazy trying to keep some kind of order in the classroom and at
home. The drugs did it for us. Now we may be on our own.
Here are ten brain-based learning strategies to help you and your kids cope:
1.Decrease sugar including drinking fruit juice. Cut down on bread and pasta, esp. that made with white, processed flour.
2.Limit TV and video games, especially TV and games that have lots of flashing lights.
3.Help them get organized. Keep a schedule and be consistent.
4.To help with reading focus, let kids read aloud and record their voice. You could read something yourself or purchase a “book on tape.” Now they can read along while
listening. If they can’t sit still for the whole tape, let them listen while moving around. Listening skills are a necessary ingredient for good reading.
5.Practice deep breathing. Kids can even be taught a simple form of meditation which is nothing more than watching ones breath.Even getting more oxygen to the brain is a
brain-based learning technique.
6.Cross right ankle over left and then give yourself a hug by crossing arms across the body, left over right. Reduces the stress in the central nervous system. Try it yourself.
7.Decrease visual distractions in childrens rooms and at school. Fewer pictures, mobiles, toys. Less stuff.
8.Exercise: play, run, skip, insist on recess at school.
9.Do Brain Gym. See www.braingymclasses.com Some kids have gone off their meds or at least had doses reduced by doing Brain Gym. Another very effective brain-
based learning strategy.
10.Eat more foods with Omega-3 fatty acids like wild salmon, sardines, tuna, flaxseed, flaxseed oil. Take fish-oil supplements. Omega-3 fatty acids increase the production of
neurotransmitter chemicals just as Ritalin does.
Brain-based learning strategies include attention to what we feed our brains and how that food affects the brain’s neurotransmitters.
Using these teacher resources and parenting tips will help you help children get control over ADD/ADHD, settle down, and learn more easily.
How to Sell Your Story to Publishers
Making a living exclusively as a novelist or freelance writer is the dream of millions of people around the world, yet only a handful of people are able to realize this dream. The reason is that many novice writers simply don’t know what it takes to be a professional writer. However, if you can learn the skills and techniques used by successful authors you too can start making a good living as a writer.
Know Your Market
The first thing that you need to learn about when entering the professional writer’s market is what publishers are looking for. Simply having a good story idea isn’t enough to make a story sale. To make a sale you have understand your market niche and you need to understand what publishers are looking for. You also need to stay on top of writing trends and keep your material fresh. You don’t want to submit an article or story for publication that examines a topic that has been covered from every conceivable angle. Publishers want material that appeals to the current tastes of readers, but that also presents a unique perspective of the topic.
Edit Your Work
One common mistake that novice writers make is not editing their submissions. Publishers expect that the material that they receive for consideration will be perfectly formatted and composed. They don’t have the time to correct your spelling mistakes and grammar errors, nor do they have the time to coach you to a publishable copy. If you want to make consistent sales, your work needs to be formatted properly, be free of spelling errors, and be grammatically correct. If you are not a good editor then you need to partner with someone who is. This partnership will help improve your sales volume and profit margin.
Always Put Your Best Foot Forward
In addition to submitting a grammatical gem to publishers, you also need to produce material that is worth reading. Most novice writers think that everything that they write is worth publishing, and for the most part this may be true. However, you need to realize that not everything that you write is going to be a pearl of wisdom. To help you to weed out questionable compositions you should ask a friend or colleague to read the piece and give you their candid opinion. By getting a second opinion about your composition you will be able to determine what pieces need further revisions, what pieces should be scrapped, and what pieces are ready for submission. This filtering system will also help you to establish yourself as a quality writer with publishers because they will only be exposed to your best writing.
Follow Directions
The final method for improving your chances of being published is to read submission instructions provided by publishers carefully. Every publishing house and magazine has its own unique set of submission rules. If you don’t want your submission thrown away without being reviewed then you need to follow these rules to the last letter. Make sure that you understand what submission methods the publisher accepts, what format your material needs to have, and to whom you need to submit your work to.

Creating and Maintaining and Extreme Competitive Business Advantage
Want to succeed in business? Others have done it by finding a way to make a profit for a solution that resolves someone else’s problem or need. They created an information product by finding a way to overcome this problem and then by showing other people how to do it.
As we look at the factors of creating and maintaining an Extreme Competitive Advantage, let’s look at those three essentials of a business: You, Your Brand, and How Your Product/Service is a Solution.
You are The Star. You bring to your business what you have created, accomplished, or overcome. You are the reason your business exists, whether you are selling a service, information, or a gadget. If you aren’t in the equation, your business won’t exist.
Your brand is Your Story. Years ago, just out of college in my first writing job, a colleague was lamenting that she would never be able to write a book because all of the good ideas had already been written about. While there is some truth to that, everybody’s story is different, and how you present it will be different, too. Your story, your brand will be unique because you are unique. So when you start thinking about your brand, look at your story. What makes it different? What makes you different? Bring that to your business and you will see your brand develop.
Your product or service is The Solution. Creating and maintaining extreme competitive advantage involves weaving the star and the story together to support the solution; You can develop an Extreme Competitive Advantage through assessing all the levels of your business – branding, marketing, product development and R&D, budget and streamlining your decision-making process. Here are six things to consider as you bring your Star, Story, and Solution to life:
1. Have a profound reason for your business. The fact is, like a book theme, there aren’t a lot of segments in business that need more offerings. As a result, you will need to look for either a trend-related reason to be in business or for a service advantage that you can provide. What do you know that someone might need or desire that they can’t find anywhere else? What service do you provide that sets you apart from anything that is currently available? How can you position yourself to be distinct in your market?
2. Create Strong Positioning. Stand out from your competitors. Be clear and dramatic, dynamic and different. What sets you apart? What do you offer that makes people take notice of you and your business? What is the best way of making the presentation of your solution to the world? Everything you do establishes your brand. Look at companies with strong brand appeal. You notice them because they offer something different, or they say it in a way that the market notices.
3. The Continuous Development of Unique Assets is Key. We’re all very familiar with the iPod. It’s revolutionized how we listen to music, added another tool to share information, and changed how people view Apple as an innovative technology company. For a short time, Apple relied heavily on this unique asset to give them a competitive advantage. However, within months, many mp3 players became available from other companies. So, they came out with other models to cover more of the market; they added new features; Their innovative products were continuously developed. Now they’ve developed the iPhone. What Apple knows is that although they have a unique asset, their competitive advantage will go away over time. They need to continually develop new ones to maintain their competitive advantage.
4. Maintain an Economic Advantage. This is a key area that too many businesses lack. You must be able to outspend your competitors and still maintain profitability. Pricing is important, as is perceived value to the customer. The more unique your offering, whether it is service or a product, the more ability you’ll have to offer products for premium prices and bigger margins, ultimately attracting customers for whom price is not a factor.
5. Build Complex Business Systems. Systems are very important for the flow of your business. Another way they are important is that the more complicated they are, the less likely it is that your competition will copy them, allowing you to maintain your competitive advantage.
6. Use Speed and Agility. You must be mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially agile to maintain your competitive advantage. Staying a step ahead of your competition requires you to be at your best in all areas.
As you build your business, support The Star, Story, and Solution with these six aspects of creating and maintaining a competitive advantage and you will move ever closer to the Success Phenomenon.

What to Do When a Patient Goes Ballistic
Today was a bad day. A high-maintenance patient who has been difficult in the past had a meltdown in our waiting room (which was full), yelling at our receptionist for having to wait longer than they would’ve preferred.
Now I realize the ball does get dropped in a busy practice from time to time. Given the sensitive nature of our work, I am relieved when it amounts to something relatively trivial like accidentally keeping someone on hold, or losing a call. I know those things are important to the person-in-question, but it’s nothing compared to, say, a wrong prescription.
Our receptionist handled the situation like a professional, but later she confessed to me that she was completely unnerved. I told her she did fine, and shared with her a four-step process for dealing with difficult patients that I printed off of the Texas Medical Association website:
1. Listen Attentively. Spend several minutes letting the patient tell the whole story without interruption. Be careful not to become defensive, react sarcastically, or appear rushed. Use good eye contact, and take notes, if appropriate. If the patient gets off track, use phrases such as: “Tell me more about ,” “Then what happened?” or “How did you feel then?” These phrases invite the patient to continue the story rather than start over at the beginning.
2. Show Concern. After the patient has completed the story, show appropriate empathy or understanding for the situation. Use phrases such as: “I can see how you might have gotten that impression of us,” “I can see why you’re concerned,” or “I’d feel that way, too, if I were in your shoes.” You don’t have to agree with the patient’s story or point of view. Simply show understanding for the situation. The benefit of listening and showing empathy is that the patient begins to feel understood and respected as a person, and that usually lessens emotions.
3. Clarify Details. The next step is to clarify any details or points in the story that are important to reaching a solution. Focus on those items that give you information and clues about how to approach a situation.
4. Respond Assertively. Finally, once you have a clear understanding of both the facts and the emotions of the situation, you can choose an appropriate response. Use an “ideal solution” question such as: “What would you like me to do to solve this problem?” or “What would be your ideal solution to this problem?” The patient may surprise you by suggesting a perfectly acceptable solution. Using the patient’s response as a starting point, negotiate the best possible agreement. Be clear about your policies and possible exceptions, outline the patient’s choices, and work toward a solution.
The receptionist mainly did the first two, since the problem wasn’t serious, and the patient was just venting. Still, the key for such incidents is to be as prepared as possible. After reading the above list, our receptionist made a copy and taped it to her computer.
You know, I can’t get my kids to fill the dishwasher or make their beds, so anytime someone listens to me, I feel like doing a little dance.

Is Your New Business Kicking Your Behind?
When you’re building a home based business, discouragement comes often. Money goes out faster than it comes in. Customers don’t seem to know you exist. How do you cope when you can’t pay the bills?
When I was dealing with these situations, taking the time to nurture my spirit and build belief in myself saved me. Taking time for whatever inspires you is a requirement for a new home based business owner. When you feel inspired, you’re tapping into something bigger than any problems you may have on your plate. Taking the time to do what inspires you, creates breathing room so you can see your challenges from a fresh perspective.
Have you heard the story about The Blind Men and the Elephant? Three blind men decided they wanted to know what an elephant felt like, since they couldn’t see one. When a merchant with a herd of elephants came along, he overheard them talking and offered to let them touch one of his elephants. The merchant led each man individually to different parts of the elephant. One man touched the forelegs, one touched the trunk, and one touched the tail.
Later the three men talked about their experience. Each one had a very different perspective. One said it must resemble two big trees. The second one said it was similar to a snake, long and round, and very strong. The third one said it was like a straw fan swinging back and forth to give a breeze, but not so big or well made.
The moral to this story is, how can anyone know what’s true until they can see the whole picture? We are like the three blind men, we don’t know the whole picture.
When we started our home business, I couldn’t see the whole picture. But I knew other people had built successful home businesses. I knew there was a way that I could do it too, if I stayed plugged into the energy and knowledge of those that had already been successful. I knew this energy would give me the inspiration and ideas I needed each step of the way. Where do those ideas come from? That is a question we each must answer for ourselves. In my case, I listened and took action when I received inspiration, and eventually I began to see the whole picture come into focus.
What is your source of inspiration? Maybe it’s a good book, a walk to clear your head, gardening, petting your dog, or talking to your coach. You have your own unique way of opening your mind, so that just the right ideas can present themselves to you. The key is to honor and act on those inspirations, so they will keep coming!
My question for you is what inspires you?
Get Rich Quick? Internet Business Misconceptions!
I had to laugh the other day as I was watching television. There was a commercial about running an internet business from your home. It was one of those, Visit our website to start making thousands of fast and easy dollars a month! Perhaps you know what I am talking about. On this commercial there were numerous people sharing their success stories. One story showed a woman sipping a drink by her pool and she explained how she only worked two days a week and she was making $5000 a month. Another man was in his brand new Mercedes, and he proclaimed that his business has never been so easy. He was generating tens of thousands of dollars a month! Easy huh? Yeah right!
If most internet marketers shared their story, most would probably tell you that they work several hours a day, several days a week, and are only generating a couple bucks a day. It is quite opposite from the story you hear from television or internet advertisements. So how easy is this internet business stuff?
If you are looking to venture off into an area of internet business, do be in reality about what you are getting into. Just like any other business, an internet business requires hard work, energy, time, knowledge, focus, patience, perseverance, studying, time, and some more time. You only receive if you put something out. If you put nothing out, you will not receive. Do understand that you reap what you sow. Thousands of dollars will not fall into your lap by just signing up for some million dollar program.
One thing I have learned in internet marketing is that there is no such thing as a get rich quick method. Again, an internet business requires hard work, time, patience, and some more time. A general rule of thumb is that if it seems to good to be true, it probably is.
To be quite honest, I was hooked into internet marketing because I heard that you could turn a five digit number income per month by simply inserting advertising on your website. While you can, I was not in reality about the fact that it would take a lot of time, a lot of work, a lot of knowledge, a lot of patience, etc. I was also not in reality about the fact that those that are turning the five digit number income per month only make up a small percentage of all internet marketers. I quickly found this out by reading various internet forum sites. Do not get absorbed in the hype. Look at the facts.
I am by no means an expert internet marketer, but as one that has worked hard from a rough beginning, my advice to you is to focus on an area and apply hard work, time, and energy to that area. It could take you several months before you start turning any super large dollar amounts, but then again, that should not surprise you as you know a successful internet business will take a lot time, energy, patience, focus, and determination.
